Annual Report Schools for Africa 2019

Annual Report

The power of education to transform lives, communities, and nations cannot be underestimated, and providing children and young people with a quality education that facilitates learning for the twenty-first century has manifold benefits across all levels of society. This is especially true on the continent of Africa, which is home to some of the fastest growing economies in the world as well as a growing adolescent population. This presents a unique opportunity to leverage the skills, resources, and capacities of millions of young people to support even greater progress and to propel new growth opportunities – both for themselves and for the societies in which they live.

This report shares the very significant progress that UNICEF programmes have made in the 21 Schools for Africa countries in 2019 so that every child learns. UNICEF’s long standing presence in these countries, its strong technical expertise in education, and its trusted partnerships with national ministries of education and other relevant partners provide the organization a unique and strategic position in the national education sectors.
